Do you have teachers seeking high leverage strategies to support science practices and discourse in their classroom? Do you want to provide a sustained professional learning opportunity that fosters positive science learning experiences for all students?
Provide your teachers with four days of learning with a grade-alike cohort of teachers from local districts, in which they will:
Experience an explore before explain lesson sequence
Construct formative and summative explanatory models of phenomena
Develop a class Driving Question Board (DQB) and summary table to motivate learning and track progress
Use productive discussion and norms to engage students in more equitable and rigorous science conversations that support their sense-making
Apply all of the above ideas to design or refine an instructional resource appropriate for their grade level
NGSS Science Academies are led by coaches from the Institute for School Partnership at Washington University in St. Louis.
